A major earthquake could compromise our region’s drinking water systems and threaten the health of our community. That’s why we are preparing now.

In 2026, our customers will begin receiving drinking water from a new source - the Willamette Water Supply System. This supplements current regional water supplies.

When operational, the new system will be one of the most earthquake-resilient systems in Oregon. From the beginning to the end, the new system is designed to stand up to a large-scale seismic event like the Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. This means it will take significantly less time to restore vital drinking water services to our customers, including hospitals, daycares, dialysis centers, and residents’ homes.

The Willamette Water Supply System will provide TVWD’s 222,000 residents with safe, clean drinking water which will be delivered through their water provider.

The new system will draw from the mid-Willamette River near Wilsonville. This additional water source gives your water provider another option to tap into in the event one water source is stressed.

Community safety is our top priority. Investing in our community today prepares us to meet the needs of tomorrow.
