Project Overview

TVWD will be:

  • Moving sections of the existing 8-inch water main to new locations under Blanton Street, between SW 209th Avenue and SW Katie Rose Terrace.
  • Replacing fire hydrants in the area.
  • Installing concrete support blocks (called straddleblocks) to help support sections of the water main.

Water mains are underground pipes in the street that carry treated drinking water from a water treatment plant to homes and businesses within TVWD's water service area.

The project is currently in the design phase, and the scope is subject to change.

Moving sections of the water mains and the hydrants now will make room for the future new stormwater drainage system and sidewalks between 198th Avenue and 209th Avenue, which are part of Washington County Land Use & Transportation's future Blanton Street Improvement Project. The County's project is scheduled to begin in 2026.

NOTES:

  • Water-related construction will occur intermittently between January 20 and February 27, 2026. TVWD crews will not be present every day, but activity may occur at times during this period.
  • Other utility companies will also be working on Blanton Street during this time.
  • TVWD will coordinate closely with Washington County and other utilities to reduce disruptions as much as possible.
