Water System Treatment and Monitoring

The safety and quality of your drinking water is our top priority at TVWD. We source water from two primary suppliers: the Joint Water Commission (JWC) and Portland Water Bureau. Each employs distinct disinfection methods to eliminate harmful pathogens.

At TVWD, the quality and safety of your water is our top priority. Together with the Portland Water Bureau and the Joint Water Commission (JWC), we rigorously test your water supply for approximately 200 contaminants, including both regulated and unregulated constituents.

TVWD is committed to delivering safe, high-quality drinking water. While lead levels consistently fall below federal action levels, we take proactive steps to monitor and minimize any potential risks from lead in your drinking water.

TVWD completed an assessment identifying any lead-based service line materials within our public infrastructure. Service lines are the smaller pipes that connect water distribution mains to a home or business’s plumbing. No lead service lines were discovered in the water system.

TVWD fluoridates the water in a significant portion of its service area, including the Cooper Mountain, Aloha, Cedar Mill, Bethany, and West Hills areas. Fluoride is added to the water at a concentration of 0.7 parts per million (ppm).

Cryptosporidium detections occur seasonally in unfiltered water sampled from the Bull Run Watershed, which is one of the sources used by the Portland Water Bureau. Detections of Cryptosporidium in the watershed do not indicate detections in TVWD’s system.
