Fluoride

General Fluoridation Map

TVWD fluoridates the water in a significant portion of its service area, including the Cooper Mountain, Aloha, Cedar Mill, Bethany, and West Hills areas. Fluoride is added to the water at a concentration of 0.7 parts per million (ppm), following the guidance of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. TVWD uses sodium fluoride approved for use in drinking water.

TVWD does not fluoridate the Metzger portion of the District.

Why is Fluoridation Only in Part of the Service Area?
TVWD was formed by the merger of two former water districts: the Wolf Creek Highway Water District and the Metzger Water District. Residents in the Wolf Creek Highway Water District voted to add fluoride to their water, and this practice continues today. In contrast, the Metzger Water District did not vote to fluoridate its water and has not taken action to implement fluoridation.
