Residential Backflow Testing Due September 1

To protect the safety of our community’s water supply, TVWD requires all backflow assemblies to be tested annually by a certified backflow assembly tester. For residential customers, results must be submitted electronically by the testing company no later than Wednesday, September 1.

Throughout the first part of the year, customers received several reminders of the required test. The final reminder mailed on August 5 outlines TVWD’s enforcement actions if passing test results are not submitted by September 1.

If your test is already scheduled to be completed by September 1 and TVWD receives the results by the due date, no further action is required from you. If you have received a final reminder letter and the test has been completed already, please inform your testing company TVWD has not received the results.

Customers who have not had a certified backflow tester submit results by September 1 will receive a $65 enforcement fee per backflow assembly applied to their water bill. This $65 enforcement fee covers the required testing that TVWD will schedule to be completed by a contracted and certified tester.

If you subscribed to TVWD’s Gold Plan annual testing program after June 1, 2024, your subscription will not begin until 2025. It is still your responsibility to schedule this year’s test to be completed by September 1.

Backflow prevention is an extremely important part of keeping the water supply safe. Per Oregon Administrative Rule 333-061-070 and District Water System Standards, all approved backflow prevention assemblies must be maintained and tested at least annually to protect the public water system.
