Why Temporary Pavement?
At TVWD, we're dedicated to providing you with clean, reliable water service. This sometimes requires digging up streets to install new water mains, fix leaks, or maintain our system. You might notice temporary pavement in place even after construction is complete. This isn't an oversight. Permanent paving in wet or cold conditions compromises quality and shortens the road's lifespan.
- Temperature Matters: Asphalt needs specific temperatures to be properly laid. Work usually stops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Rain is a Problem: Rain contacting fresh asphalt causes oil to rise to the surface, disrupting the curing process and negatively impacting the road's quality.
The Solution: Cold Patch
Temporary solutions like cold patch are used in less-than-ideal weather. They offer a safe, smoother surface until permanent paving can occur. Waiting for suitable weather for permanent asphalt ensures durable roads, saving time and money in the long run.
We understand this can be frustrating, but our priority is reliable water service and long-lasting roads. Thank you for your understanding.
