Our Commitment To Your Safety
At TVWD, your safety and security are our top priorities. Unfortunately, we've received reports of imposters posing as our employees.
Safeguarding Your Information
TVWD limits the collection of your data to that which is required by law and necessary for the District's operations. You can be assured that your data maintained by the District will only be used for the core function of providing your water service, including billing and customer service. However, we may be required to provide certain information if required by law as part of a valid legal process.
Know the Warning Signs of Fraud
By staying alert and following a few simple guidelines, you can help protect yourself from these fraudulent activities.
Scammers may try to gain access to your home. TVWD employees will never ask to enter your home without a previously scheduled appointment. If someone shows up unannounced and claims to be from TVWD, ask to see their photo ID badge, which all of our employees carry. If you're still unsure, do not let them in and call us immediately at (503) 848-3000 to verify their identity. If you feel you are in danger, make sure all your doors are locked and call 911 immediately.
Typically, TVWD employees only visit homes for service calls, previously scheduled appointments, or to alert residents of an emergency like a water main break or a major construction project that will impact their water service.
Scammers may try to get your personal information. Scammers can use phone calls, texts, or door-to-door visits to demand immediate payment or collect personal information. TVWD will never call or text you to ask for your credit card number or other personal details. We also do not accept payments at your home or business.
Scammers may make false claims about your water. We've also received reports of scammers trying to sell expensive water filtration systems. They may claim your water is contaminated and even provide fake test results. This is a scam. If you have any concerns about your water quality, please contact us directly.
