Florence Ln. Pumps

Description

UPDATES:

  • Survey and Potholing: During the week of April 27, 2026, crews will be working on SW Florence Lane, east of SW Fir Lane Terrace, to perform surveying and potholing. This work will help finalize the design for a new underground water valve and vault planned beneath a section of SW Florence Lane. Installation is currently anticipated for fall/winter 2026. No action is needed from residents in the area. Learn more.

  • Jan. 2026 Project Update: Work inside the pump station building is underway and partially complete. Over the next several months, pumps will be brought to the site and installed as time permits. The new emergency generator will also be brought to the site for permanent installation outside the building. Project completion is scheduled for winter 2026.

  • Preparation Work: In August 2025, the project contractor conducted exploratory digging to determine a safe route for new powerlines to be brought into the site. Learn more.

Project Overview

A contractor and TVWD will be:

  • Upgrading and replacing pumps, motors, transformers, and the generator inside the Florence Lane Pump Station at 6675 SW Florence Lane, and
  • Installing a new emergency generator outside the building.

The majority of work will occur inside the pump station.

General Impacts

Before Construction

  • Preparation Work: The contractor will conduct potholing (or digging small holes to locate existing utilities) and boring an electrical service on Florence Lane near the driveway of the Florence Lane Pump Station.

During Construction

Work will occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

  • General Impacts
    • Noise, dust, and vibrations from construction activities.
    • Noise from emergency generator testing (generally weekly for less than an hour).
    • Large equipment onsite, including excavators, cranes, and dump trucks.
    • Construction materials staged at the site.
    • Occasional drone use to document construction process.
  • Traffic and Activity
    • Increased traffic and activity near and onsite, including contractor vehicles entering and leaving.
  • Water Service
    • No water service shutoffs are planned for customers.

After Construction

  • Emergency Generator Testing: Temporary noise during weekly testing, conducted during business hours.
  • Power Outages: The generator will run during outages to ensure continued water service for customers.

Project Benefits

This project will prepare the pump station to send water to the new water reservoirs and pump station being built at the Taylors Ferry site. Additionally, the upgraded pump station components will:

  • Increase capacity and reliability: Ensuring water can meet growing community needs
  • Strengthen system reliability: Giving extra support so water service stays consistent even during maintenance or high demand
  • Extend infrastructure life: Keeping the system strong for years to come

Status Updates

Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), your drinking water provider, will soon begin a project to strengthen the water infrastructure serving your neighborhood.

From August 27 to February 2026, an electrical contractor overseen by TVWD will be upgrading and replacing the electrical service and equipment, transformers, and the generator inside the Florence Lane Pump Station located at 6675 SW Florence Lane. Following this work, TVWD’s operations staff will replace the pumps and motors inside the building.

Unlike the recent Florence Lane Reservoir Coating Project, which involved significant work outside on the reservoirs, most of this work will happen inside the pump station building.

You may see crews accessing the site, but most of the work – and noise – will occur indoors, keeping impacts to neighbors minimal. Some short preparatory work, such as locating underground utilities, connecting a new electrical service, and staging material will happen either on site or near the pump station’s driveway and Florence Lane, but these activities will be limited. Please note, this work is separate from the neighboring Taylors Ferry Reservoir Project.

Additional details are below.

Project Overview

  • Start Date: August 27, 2025
  • End Date: February 2026
  • Workdays/Hours: Weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Work is not scheduled to occur on weekends or holidays.
  • Location: Inside the Florence Lane Pump Station
