Learn more.
- Project Scheduled: Construction is scheduled May 4 to July 16, 2026. Work will occur weekdays, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. During the week of April 27, 2026, crews will begin preparing for this construction. This includes utility marking, surveying, and potholing. Construction will take place in the public right-of-way. Learn more.
Project Overview
TVWD will be:
Main Replacement
TVWD will replace about 1,900 feet of aging 8-inch ductile-iron water main with new 4-inch or 8-inch ductile-iron water main under:
- SW 184th Ave. (SW Monte Verdi Blvd. to SW 184th Pl.)
- SW Lapaz Ct.
- SW Burns Ridge Ct.
Underground Supports (Straddleblocks)
Crews will install concrete supports that help keep sections of the water main from shifting under pressure at:
- Corner of SW Monte Verdi Blvd.
- SW 184th Ave. and SW Barcelona Wy.
Fire Hydrants
Crews will install new hydrants or replace existing ones at:
- Corner of 18460 and 18350 SW Almonte Ct.
- Near 6936 SW 184th Ave.
- SW 185th Ave. and SW Monte Verdi Blvd.
- 7008 SW 184th Ave.
- 7106 SW 184th Pl.
(When a new water main is installed, hydrants must be connected to the new main to operate properly and maintain water pressure.)

Work Schedule- Weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Large equipment in the area
- A drone may be used to document progress
- Temporary lane closures with flaggers
- Short delays when entering or leaving driveways
- Temporary parking restrictions near work areas
- Mail, garbage collection, and deliveries will continue
- Some homes will have planned, temporary water outages. You will receive at least 48 hours’ notice before any interruption.
Construction Process
The process may change.
Phase 1: Preconstruction (week of Apr. 27, 2027)
- Utility marking
- Potholing
- Erosion control
- Drone photos and video
Phase 2: Water Main, Straddleblock, and Fire Hydrant Installation (May 1 - July 16, 2026)
- Water main installation
- Straddleblocks
- Install in the following locations:
- Corner of SW Monte Verdi Blvd.
- SW 184th Ave. and SW Barcelona Wy.
- Install in the following locations:
- Fire hydrants
- Install new hydrants at the following locations:
- Corner of 18460 and 18350 SW Almonte Ct.
- 6936 SW 184th Ave.
- Relocate hydrants to the following locations:
- SW 185th Ave. and SW Monte Verdi Blvd.
- 7008 SW 184th Ave.
- 7106 SW 184th Pl.
- Install new hydrants at the following locations:
Phase 3: Connections (May 1 - July 16, 2026)
- Connect homes to the new water mains
- Connect the new water mains to the water system in the following locations:
- SW 185th Ave. and SW Monti Verdi Blvd.
- Corner of SW Monte Verdi Blvd.
- SW 184th Ave. and SW Barcelona Wy.
- SW 184th Ave. and SW 184th Pl.
- SW Burns Ridge Ct. and SW 184th Ave.
- Disconnect and abandon in place old water mains in the following locations:
- From SW 185th Ave. and SW Monte Verdi Blvd. to the end of SW 184th Pl., including SW Lapaz Ct. and SW Burns Ridge Ct.
Phase 4: Permanent Paving (Later in 2026)
Temporary asphalt will remain in place until final paving can be scheduled, based on weather. Final paving will cover the areas where the new water main was installed, not the entire street, and include:
- Removing the existing road surface using a heavy machine with a rotating drum and sharp blades.
- Cleaning and preparing road surface.
- Spreading and compacting hot asphalt evenly using paving machines and workers.
- Applying a light dusting of sand to ensure safety and durability as the asphalt cures and settles.
Project Benefits
Sections of the current water main under SW 184th Ave., SW 184th Pl., SW Burns Ridge Ct., and SW Monte Verdi Blvd. were installed in the mid to late 1970', and have experienced multiple leaks. The project will improve the water system in this area by:
- Boosting reliability: The new mains will be stronger and less likely to leak, helping prevent service interruptions.
- Improving water flow: The larger, modern mains can move more water at higher pressure to homes and hydrants in the neighborhood.
- Enhancing fire protection: Firefighters will have better access to water for emergency response.
