Water Supply Shortage Plan

Our Operations During A Severe Water Shortage

Barney Reservoir Low Water LevelsTVWD developed a water supply shortage plan to guide staff and customers in the event of a water shortage. Water curtailment actions may be taken in the case of the following events:

  • Drought
  • Extreme Turbidity
  • Contamination of Water Supplies
  • Supply Interruptions (such as major water transmission line break or reservoir failure)
  • Contractual Considerations

Depending on the severity and the length of the event, curtailment could range from voluntary water use reduction to a 50% mandatory reduction of all water use.

For more information about our what might cause a water shortage and what TVWD's plans during a shortage are, take a look at our Water Supply Shortage Plan (PDF).
