What is TVWD doing?

TVWD will install a new section of water main. The project includes installation of approximately 800 feet of new water main, necessary valves, and reconnection of all water services and side street connections within the project boundary of NW Avalon Drive and NW 179th Place, between NW Tillamook Drive and NW 178th Avenue.

Why now?

The existing water main is deteriorating and is identified as a high priority main replacement.

Upgrading water mains helps to provide reliable water service into the future, reduces the chance of leaking and broken water mains, and provides greater fire protection coverage.

How does this affect me?

  • Depending on your property type and use, this project will affect you in different ways and times:

Working Times

  • Work will occur between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Work may periodically occur outside of these times if approved by the County.

Traffic Disruptions

  • Vehicular and pedestrian access within the project area will be limited at times during construction. TVWD will maintain access to private driveways throughout the project. Temporary driveway access may be provided by placing steel plates over the exposed work areas while that section is being installed and connected, which is typically one (1) day.
  • This project will include times when the intersection on 178th Avenue and/or the intersection on NW Tillamook Street will be impacted.

General Construction Disruptions

  • During construction, heavy equipment and materials will be located in the work area. These areas will be clearly marked with cones and/or caution tape.
  • When construction is occurring noise and dust may be present.

Water Service Disruptions

  • Once the new water main is installed, your water service will be connected to the new line. Your water will be temporarily turned off for 15 to 30 minutes to connect your house to the new main.
  • When the entire project is complete, TVWD will disconnect the original water main. That process requires a service disruption impacting the neighborhood lasting approximately four (4) hours.

Water service disruptions are typically scheduled in the middle of the day when most residents are at work. It is TVWD's goal to minimize the water service disruption time for all users. You will be notified within at least 48 hours by door hanger as service connections and water disruptions get closer.

Special Needs

  • If you or a resident of your home has unique needs, such as medical condition requiring access to fire/ambulance service, please contact us so accommodations can be worked out in advance.
