Understanding Your Water Bill

An Easy Guide To Your Water Bill

  1. Billing Date: The date the bill was released.water_bill_small

  2. Service Period: The dates your service was measured.

  3. Due Date: The date your bill is due.

  4. Amount Due: Amount due from current and previous billing periods.

  5. Water Charges: Itemized charges for your water service. Fixed water charges are fees for your water service regardless of the amount of water used. Water usage is the charge for the amount of water used.

    • Prev Rd: The reading taken at the previous reading

    • Curr Rd: The reading taken at the current reading.

    • Usage: The amount of water used during the current service period, measured in CCF (1 CCF= 100 Cubic Feet or 748 gallons). This is determined by Curr Rd – Prev Rd.

  6. Sewer/Surface Water Charges: Certain areas combine other billing services with TVWD’s. In this case, these are itemized charges for sewer and surface water service billed by Clean Water Services, the City of Sherwood, or the City of Beaverton. Some areas are billed only for TVWD services. In these areas, this section will be blank.

  7. Previous Balance: The amount due from the previous service period.

  8. Payments: The amount paid in the previous service period.

  9. Adjustments: Fees and credits to your bill are listed here.

  10. Current Charges: Amount charged for the current service period.

  11. Account Balance: Amount due from previous and current service periods.

  12. Water Messages: In addition to your water meter number, other account and water information is listed here. For this bill, EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer Program) indicates that the funds will be transferred electronically directly from the bank so the customer will not have to mail a check. It also indicates if fluoride is added to the water at 1 PPM (parts per million).

  13. Billing Message: Tips and information about programs and events sponsored by the water provider and/or Clean Water Services.

  14. Consumption Chart: A graphic representation of water usage for the last 14 months, listed by bi-monthly period so you can compare your current use to last year’s use. Also listed is the average high temperature and total precipitation for the current month and the same month the previous year.

  15. Payment Stub: The portion of the bill you send with your payment. If you are an EFT customer, you will not need to send a payment. It will automatically be deducted from your bank account.
