Residential Rebates FAQ

Rebate Frequently Asked Questions

General - applies to all rebates

Q. How long do I have to turn in my completed application?
A. The length of time to submit a rebate is 90 days from the date of purchase.

Q. If I move and get a new account number, do the rebates "start over"?
A. Yes.

Q. I own my own condo and pay my water bill through my homeowners association. Do I still qualify for rebates?
A. Yes. Owners of master-metered residences such as condominiums, duplex/multiplex or manufactured homes are eligible for rebates.

Q. I own a property but the water bill is in the renter's name. I am replacing the toilets or washing machine. Since I'm paying for it, can I get the rebate even if I don't live there?
A. Yes.

  • Fill out the application form in your name
  • Enter the rental property address in the "installation address" box
  • Enter your mailing address in the "mailing address" box
  • Note that you are the owner of the property

Washing Machine

Q. I previously received a washing machine rebate. Now I have to replace it. Do I get another rebate on my new machine?
A. No. The washing machine rebate is a one-time only rebate per household.

Toilets

Q. How many toilet rebates can I get?
A. You may have up to three toilet rebates per household.

Q. Do I have to replace all of them at the same time or can I do each one separately?
A. You may do them all at the same time or each one separately, it's your choice.

Q. Can I replace just the toilet "innards" and still get the rebate?
A. No. The whole toilet (tank & bowl) must be replaced to receive the rebate.

Q. Do I have to hire a plumber or can I do it myself?
A. You may do the replacement yourself.

Q. What do I do with my old toilets? I don't want to take them to the landfill and don't need any more planters!
A. Want to RECYCLE those old toilets? If you don't need another planter and can't make it to TVWD's FREE recycling event which will be held October 15 2011, do the next best thing and take them to one of these recycling centers. Please contact them for hours and costs.
