Residential Weather-Based Irrigation Rebate

Paying You To Make Water-Efficient Choices

Residential Sprinkler SystemSave Water And Money

TVWD encourages water efficiency to promote wise water use because everyone depends on water. Water use frequently doubles or triples during the summer months due to outdoor watering. In most cases homeowners turn on their irrigation system and neglect to adjust watering schedules according to site, climate and condition. Weather based irrigation systems monitor that your landscape is only getting the water it needs which encourages a healthy landscape and being water smart.

Receive up to $200 to install a weather-based irrigation device if you are planning a new or upgrading an existing automatic irrigation system:

  • When you include an evaportranspiration (ET) controller, OR
  • Purchase a soil moisture sensor with a new or existing irrigation system

Note: New and upgraded devices must be inspected and verified by a licensed landscape irrigation contractor. The inspector's signature on the rebate application form is required.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must live in a single-family residence within the Tualatin Valley Water District, including a house, condominium, duplex/multiplex or manufactured home with a single or master meter. NOTE: Customers in the Southwood Park Water District and Valley View Water District and apartment owners currently DO NOT qualify for these rebates.

  • The applicant must have a current TVWD water account in good standing or be the owner of the master metered (condominium, duplex/multiplex, or manufactured home) residence within the District as verified by TVWD.

  • Be sure your device qualifies for the rebate. View a partial list of qualifying devices (PDF) or contact our Conservation Department at 503-848-3056 for a device not found on the list.

  • Device installations must be inspected and verified by a licensed landscape irrigation contractor.
  • Applications must include a copy of the proof of purchase in the form of a sales receipt or purchase invoice (specifying the product, date and cost), and the signature of a licensed landscape irrigation contractor.
  • Rebates are for new products only. Pre-existing products are not eligible.
  • Prior to approval, an on-site inspection may be required by TVWD.

  • The total rebate per item will not exceed the receipt amount.

  • The application must be received within 90 days of purchase or service.

  • Only one weather-based irrigation rebate will be issued per property.

NOTE: Rebates are given on a first-come first-served basis until rebate funds are distributed.

How To Apply For A Rebate

  1. Call or contact our Conservation Department at (503) 848-3056 for the rebate terms and conditions and with any questions. You can also download the Residential Rebate Brochure (PDF) for more information.
  2. Have your irrigation system inspected by a licensed landscape or irrigation contractor. Work with your contractor to determine whether your system can benefit from a weather-based irrigation system.
  3. Make sure your device qualifies for the rebate. If it’s not on our Partial List of Qualifying Devices (PDF), call (503) 848-3056.
  4. Have your contractor install equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  5. Fill out the Residential Irrigation Rebate Application Form (PDF) (with the exception of "Contractor Verification" section).
  6. Have your contractor fill out the "Contractor Verification" section.
  7. Mail all paperwork, including the completed original application and copies of a sales receipt or purchase invoice to TVWD. Upon approval, your rebate will be processed within 4-6 weeks.
  8. If upgrading, keep your old device. You may be contacted by TVWD to schedule an inspection of your old controller and system upgrades before a rebate will be issued.

If you're installing a new irrigation system, be sure to take a look at our Backflow Prevention Web page.
